Best Buns

I recently posted on instagram a picture of my new favorite hamburger buns. Homemade. So good. For some reason I often don’t have hamburger buns laying around, but always flour, so this is my go-to. And in the world of homemade bread it is actually pretty easy. All done in the Kitchen Aid mixer. Yay!!

Hamburger Buns

Hamburger Buns (Makes 12)

Mix together in a small bowl and let stand for 10ish minutes:

1 package yeast (about 2 1/4 teaspoons)

1/2 cup flour

1 cup warm water

In Kitchen Aid mix:

1 egg

3 Tablespoons melted butter

3 Tablespoons sugar

1 1/4 teaspoons salt

Add your yeast mix to the KitchenAid plus 3 cups of flour. (I use wheat flour, but the recipe calls for all purpose)

Mix in the mixer about 5 minutes

Cover and let stand in the bowl for 2ish hours to rise.

Punch down and form into 12 balls and place on baking pan. (I use a jelly roll with a silicone mat.) Cover with towel.

Let sit for about 30ish minutes??  Just look at them and see if they are as big as you want.

Brush tops with egg wash. (1 egg+1 Tablespoon milk). Sprinkle sesame seeds on. (I feel like the sesame seeds make them officially hamburger buns. Silly, but true.)

Bake in 375 degree oven for 15-17 minutes.

HELLLLOOOOOO Grilling Season!!!
